Privacy Policy for MemoryRemains

Effective date: September 16, 2026

MemoryRemains is designed as a private, on-device photo journal. This Privacy Policy explains how the MemoryRemains iPhone app (the “App”) handles information. MemoryRemains is provided by 3Nsofts (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

Summary

  • We do not require a MemoryRemains account.
  • We do not operate an app backend that receives your photo library, captions, notes, or saved memories.
  • We do not use advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, or third-party analytics in the App.
  • We do not upload your photos or videos to us or to a cloud AI service.
  • Photo analysis and supported caption generation happen on your device.
  • Your original items remain in Apple Photos and are not edited or deleted by MemoryRemains.
  • Your MemoryRemains journal data is stored locally, does not sync, and is excluded from device backup.

Photo Library access

MemoryRemains requests access to Apple Photos so it can display the photos and short videos you choose to make available. You may grant access to selected items or to your library, depending on the options Apple provides on your device.

The App uses this access to:

  • show photos and short videos in your feed and Explore view;
  • create small local previews;
  • analyze visual characteristics on device;
  • suggest categories, titles, and captions;
  • let you save, cherish, hide, organize, or write about a memory inside the App.

MemoryRemains does not edit or delete your original photos or videos, change their edits, change their Apple Photos favorite status, or modify your iCloud Photos settings.

You can change the App's Photos access at any time in iOS Settings. Features that require unavailable photos may stop working after access is removed.

On-device analysis and caption writing

The App may use Apple frameworks such as Vision and Apple Intelligence or Foundation Models to analyze a small image or video preview and suggest a title or caption. This processing occurs on the device. MemoryRemains does not send the media or generated text to our servers or to a third-party AI service.

Availability and results depend on your device, operating system, language, Apple Intelligence settings, and installed on-device models. Generated suggestions may be incomplete or inaccurate. You can edit or replace them, and your own writing takes priority.

MemoryRemains may detect general visual features, including an approximate number of visible faces, to organize or describe a scene. The App does not identify people by name or access the identities assigned in Apple Photos.

Local journal data

MemoryRemains stores the following information locally inside the App's protected storage:

  • captions and titles;
  • private notes and comments;
  • saved, cherished, and hidden status;
  • collections and feed organization;
  • on-device analysis results;
  • small cached previews;
  • onboarding and free-memory allowance state.

This information is excluded from device backup and does not sync or transfer to another device. Deleting the App removes this local information. Reinstalling the App does not restore it. Deleting the App does not delete your original items from Apple Photos.

iCloud Photos and network use

Some originals may be stored in iCloud Photos rather than fully available on your device. When you browse, prepare, or play those items, Apple may download them through iCloud Photos. These transfers occur between your device and Apple and follow your system's Wi-Fi, cellular, iCloud, and Photos settings.

MemoryRemains does not operate the iCloud Photos service and does not upload your library to an app server. Background analysis requests only media already available locally and is not intended to trigger a bulk download of your library.

Purchases

The optional Lifetime Unlock is processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment-card details. The App checks verified App Store entitlements to determine whether the Lifetime Unlock is active and lets you ask Apple to restore the purchase.

Apple may process purchase, account, transaction, fraud-prevention, tax, and diagnostic information under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. Restoring an entitlement does not transfer your local captions, notes, saves, collections, or analysis to another device.

Information we do not collect through the App

MemoryRemains does not collect through an app backend:

  • your photo or video content;
  • your captions, comments, notes, or collections;
  • your contacts, microphone, camera, or precise location;
  • identifiers for cross-app tracking;
  • advertising profiles;
  • usage analytics or behavioral event logs.

The App may interact with Apple-operated services such as the App Store and iCloud Photos as described above. Apple controls its own processing.

Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent, or share your photo library or local journal data because the App does not transmit that content to us. We do not use your App activity for targeted advertising.

Data retention and deletion

Local journal information remains on the device until you edit it, hide or restore an item, or delete the App. You can remove individual notes and change saved states inside the App. Deleting the App removes its local storage and cached previews.

Your original photos and videos are controlled through Apple Photos. Use Apple Photos and iOS settings to manage those originals and your iCloud Photos data.

Children

MemoryRemains is not designed to collect personal information from children and does not provide accounts, public posting, messaging, or advertising. Parents and guardians should manage a child's device, Apple Account, Photos permissions, and App Store purchases using Apple's available controls.

Security

Local journal data is written using iOS file protection and is kept within the App's container. No method of storage is completely secure, and device security also depends on your passcode, operating-system updates, Apple Account security, and device settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or applicable requirements change. The updated policy will show a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate channel, such as the App or the MemoryRemains website.
