Tensly is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your health data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or third parties.
Introduction
Welcome to Tensly ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Tensly mobile application (the "App").
Information We Collect
1. Health Data (Stored Locally Only)
Tensly accesses the following health data exclusively through Apple HealthKit:
- Heart Rate — Real-time and historical readings
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV) — Inter-beat interval measurements
- Sleep Data — Sleep duration and quality metrics
- Mindfulness Sessions — Breathing session logs (for baseline calibration)
- Workout Sessions — Exercise context for pattern interpretation
Important: This data is:
- ✅ Stored only on your iPhone and Apple Watch
- ✅ Processed locally using on-device algorithms
- ✅ Never uploaded to cloud servers
- ✅ Never shared with third parties
- ✅ Controlled by Apple's HealthKit security framework
2. App Usage Data (Stored Locally Only)
The App stores the following data locally:
- User Preferences — Notification settings, quiet hours, nudge frequency
- Baseline Measurements — Your personalized physiological baseline (calculated during first 7 days)
- Risk State History — Timeline of your nervous system states (green, yellow, orange, red)
- Nudge Events — Log of notifications sent (for daily cap enforcement)
- Subscription Status — Whether you have an active Premium subscription
Important: This data is:
- ✅ Stored in your device's local database (SwiftData)
- ✅ Backed up via iCloud (only if you enable iCloud Backup in iOS Settings)
- ✅ Never transmitted to our servers
- ✅ Deleted when you uninstall the App
3. Subscription & Purchase Data
When you purchase Tensly Premium, Apple processes your payment through the App Store.
We receive:
- ✅ Anonymous transaction receipt (to verify your subscription status)
- ✅ Subscription duration and renewal date
We do NOT receive:
- ❌ Your name, email, credit card details, or any personally identifiable payment information
Apple's payment processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours.
4. Data We Do NOT Collect
Tensly does not collect:
- ❌ Location data
- ❌ Contact lists
- ❌ Camera or photo library access
- ❌ Microphone or voice recordings
- ❌ Email addresses or personal identifiers
- ❌ Usage analytics or crash reports
- ❌ Advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID)
- ❌ Device identifiers beyond Apple's anonymous transaction receipts
How We Use Your Information
All data processing happens on your device. We use your health data to:
- Calculate Your Baseline — Establish your personalized physiological norms during the first 7 days
- Detect Risk States — Analyze real-time HRV and heart rate to determine nervous system state
- Generate Insights — Provide personalized suggestions based on your patterns
- Send Notifications — Deliver optional nudges when sustained strain is detected
- Display History — Show daily and weekly patterns in the App interface
We do not:
- ❌ Use your data for advertising
- ❌ Sell or share your data with third parties
- ❌ Train machine learning models on aggregated user data
- ❌ Perform cloud-based analysis or storage
Data Storage & Security
Local Storage
All health data and app data is stored locally on your iPhone and Apple Watch using:
- Apple HealthKit — Industry-standard health data framework
- SwiftData — Apple's encrypted local database
- iOS Keychain — Secure storage for subscription status
Your data is protected by:
- ✅ iOS device encryption (if you have a passcode/Face ID/Touch ID enabled)
- ✅ Apple's secure enclave
- ✅ App sandboxing (no other apps can access Tensly data)
iCloud Backup (Optional)
If you enable iCloud Backup in iOS Settings, your locally stored app data may be included in encrypted iCloud backups.
This is controlled by Apple, not Tensly. To exclude Tensly from backups:
- Go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups
- Select your device
- Toggle off Tensly
Note: HealthKit data is never included in iCloud backups by design (Apple policy).
Data Retention
- While App is Installed: Data persists locally
- When App is Deleted: All data is permanently deleted from your device
- Subscription Cancellation: Your data remains intact (you retain access to baseline and history)
Third-Party Services
Tensly integrates with the following Apple services:
1. Apple HealthKit
- Purpose: Access heart rate, HRV, sleep, and mindfulness data
- Data Sharing: None. Data stays on your device.

2. Apple StoreKit (In-App Purchases)
- Purpose: Process subscription payments
- Data Sharing: Anonymous transaction receipts only
- Privacy Policy: Apple App Store Privacy
3. Apple WatchKit
- Purpose: Communicate between iPhone and Apple Watch
- Data Sharing: None. Communication happens locally via Bluetooth.
- Privacy Policy: Apple Watch Privacy
Tensly does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud services.
Your Rights & Controls
Health Data Permissions
You control which health data Tensly can access:
- Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Tensly
- Toggle permissions for Heart Rate, HRV, Sleep, etc.
- Revoking access will limit Tensly's functionality
Notification Preferences
You control notification delivery:
- Open Tensly → Settings
- Adjust nudge frequency, quiet hours, or disable entirely
- Or use iPhone Settings → Notifications → Tensly
Data Deletion
To delete all Tensly data:
- Delete the App from your iPhone
- Delete the Watch App from your Apple Watch
- All local data is permanently erased
To delete only history while keeping the App:
- Open Tensly → Settings → Advanced
- Tap "Clear History" (baseline and preferences persist)
Subscription Management
To cancel your subscription:
- Open iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions
- Select Tensly Premium
- Tap Cancel Subscription
Cancellation does not delete your data. You retain access to the App with limited features.
International Users
Tensly is designed for global use. All data processing occurs locally on your device, regardless of your location.
If you are in the European Union (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have additional rights:
GDPR Rights (EU Users)
- Right to Access — View all data stored locally (via App settings)
- Right to Erasure — Delete the App to erase all data
- Right to Data Portability — Export your data (feature coming soon)
- Right to Restrict Processing — Revoke HealthKit permissions in iOS Settings
CCPA Rights (California Users)
- Right to Know — All collected data is listed in this policy
- Right to Delete — Delete the App to erase all data
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale — We never sell your data (not applicable)

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements.
When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
