What is Tensly?

Tensly monitors your heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) throughout the day using your Apple Watch. It learns your personal baseline over 7 days, then quietly detects when your nervous system is under strain — before you consciously feel it.

No journaling. No mood tracking. No manual check-ins. Just accurate, passive detection running in the background.

How It Works

Three simple steps to understanding your body's stress signals.

1

Learn Your Baseline

Days 1–7: Everyone's nervous system is different. Tensly spends one week learning what "normal" looks like specifically for you — not population averages.

  • Wear your Apple Watch as usual
  • Complete 3 brief breathing sessions per day
  • Tensly maps your unique patterns across times of day
2

Real-Time Detection

Day 8 onward: Tensly continuously monitors your state and classifies it into four levels:

  • 🟢Calm — Your system is settled and balanced
  • 🟡Mild Load — Early activation, still normal
  • 🟠Under Pressure — Working harder than usual
  • 🔴High Strain — Sustained stress response
3

Gentle Nudges

When Tensly detects sustained strain, it can send a quiet notification:

"Your system has been under load for 20 minutes. A short break might help."

You decide whether to act. No judgment. No streaks. Just information at the right moment.

Key Features

Everything you need to understand your nervous system's signals.

🎯

Personalized to You

Generic stress apps use population averages. Tensly learns your unique baseline — accounting for your fitness level, resting heart rate, sleep quality, and daily rhythms. What's stressful for one person may be completely normal for you.

Passive Apple Watch Integration

All monitoring happens silently through HealthKit. No need to open the app constantly. Tensly reads the data your Watch already collects — no additional battery drain, no manual inputs.

💡

State-Responsive Actions

When strain is detected, Tensly suggests the right action for your current state: 1-minute breathing via Apple Mindfulness, short movement breaks to reset your system, or wind-down reminders when it's time to ease off.

🔔

Smart Notifications

Tensly respects your time and attention: Maximum 3 nudges per day, 45-minute cooldown between alerts, quiet hours during sleep, and fully optional — disable anytime in Settings.

📊

Daily Pattern Insights

Review your nervous system's rhythm at the end of each day. How long did you spend in each state? When did overload periods occur? How quickly did you recover? Patterns emerge over days and weeks.

Why Heart Rate Variability (HRV)?

HRV measures the tiny variations between your heartbeats. It's one of the most reliable non-invasive indicators of nervous system state — used in clinical research, elite sports, and military performance assessment.

High HRV = Parasympathetic dominance → Calm, rested, recovered
Low HRV = Sympathetic dominance → Activated, stressed, fatigued

Your body starts showing physiological stress signatures before you consciously feel overwhelmed. HRV reveals that signal — and Tensly makes it readable.

Who Is Tensly For?

Tensly is built for people who want to understand their body's stress signals without adding more to their plate.

You'll likely benefit if you:

  • Experience difficulty noticing when you're overwhelmed until it's too late
  • Deal with chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, or burnout recovery
  • Want to build better awareness of your body's stress signals without manual tracking
  • Find traditional stress tracking too manual, too invasive, or too easy to abandon
  • Need gentle reminders to take breaks before strain accumulates
  • Wear an Apple Watch and want to use your health data meaningfully

May not be the right fit if:

  • You need clinical treatment for anxiety or depression — please see a healthcare provider
  • You want a fitness performance tracker focused on VO2 max and training load
  • You don't wear an Apple Watch regularly

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tensly drain my Apple Watch battery?

No. Tensly uses the same HealthKit data your Watch already collects passively. No additional sensors are activated, no background processes are added. Most users report no noticeable battery impact.

How accurate is the stress detection?

Tensly uses a weighted statistical model comparing your real-time HRV and heart rate against your personal baseline. It accounts for time of day, activity state, sleep quality, and sustained duration — not just a single reading. It reflects your nervous system's physiological state, not your emotions or thoughts.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Tensly includes a 7-day free trial. During this period you'll complete baseline learning and experience the full app. Stress detection activates after your baseline is established. No charge until day 8 — cancel anytime during the trial at no cost.

Can I turn off notifications?

Yes. Nudges are completely optional. You can disable all notifications, adjust the daily cap (1–5 nudges), set custom quiet hours, or keep monitoring active with no alerts at all. All configurable in Settings.

What happens to my data?

Everything stays on your device. Tensly processes all data locally using Apple's HealthKit framework. No cloud storage. No analytics. No data sharing with third parties. No account required.

Can I use Tensly without an Apple Watch?

No. Tensly requires continuous HRV and heart rate data, which is only available through Apple Watch via HealthKit. iPhone alone does not provide sufficient signal quality for accurate detection.

What Apple Watch models are supported?

Apple Watch Series 4 or later. watchOS 10.0 or later required. Series 4 introduced the electrical heart sensor used for HRV measurement.

Is Tensly a medical device?

No. Tensly is a wellness and self-awareness tool. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical or mental health concerns.
