Privacy Policy

We built Lokál on a simple promise: your data is yours. We collect none of it.

Short version: Lokál does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data or audio on any server. All computation happens exclusively on your Mac. We have no servers that receive your voice or your text.

1. Introduction

Lokál (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a voice dictation application for macOS, developed and published by 3nsofts (Ehsan Azish). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it.

By using Lokál, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

2. Data We Collect

We collect no personal data. None. Specifically:

  • –We do not collect your name, email address, Apple ID, or any identifier.
  • –We do not record, store, or transmit your voice or audio in any form.
  • –We do not collect the text produced by your dictation sessions.
  • –We do not collect usage statistics, session lengths, or feature interaction data.
  • –We do not use analytics SDKs (e.g. Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Crashlytics).
  • –We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data.
  • –We do not use advertising networks or tracking pixels.

3. Audio and Speech Processing

When you hold the dictation hotkey, Lokál captures audio from your Mac's microphone using the standard macOS AVAudioEngine API. This audio is passed directly to Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer / SFSpeechAnalyzer).

All speech recognition runs entirely on your device. Audio data never leaves your Mac. It is not sent to 3nsofts, Apple's cloud, or any third-party service. When you release the hotkey, the audio buffer is discarded.

Grammar correction and writing-style adaptation are powered by Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework (Apple Intelligence). This processing also runs locally and involves no server-side computation.

4. Dictation History

Lokál maintains an optional local log of your past dictation sessions stored in the app's sandboxed container on your Mac. This data:

  • –Exists solely on your Mac — it is never synced, uploaded, or backed up by us.
  • –Can be cleared at any time from the History tab in Settings.
  • –Is deleted automatically when you uninstall the App.
  • –Is not accessible to 3nsofts in any way.

5. App Preferences and Settings

Your settings (selected language, hotkey, grammar toggle, etc.) are stored viaUserDefaults in the App's sandboxed container, locally on your Mac. They are not transmitted anywhere.

6. Purchase and Billing

Lokál is sold through the Apple Mac App Store. All payment processing, billing, and transaction records are handled exclusively by Apple. We never see, store, or process your payment card details, Apple ID credentials, or purchase receipts.

7. Third-Party Services

Lokál does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or telemetry SDKs. The App's only external dependency is the Apple Mac App Store's StoreKit framework for purchase verification — which communicates solely with Apple's servers on your behalf.

8. Children's Privacy

Lokál does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because we collect no data at all, the App is equally safe for users of any age.

9. Data Security

Because we collect no data and operate no servers, there is no database of user information that could be compromised. The App runs in macOS's App Sandbox, which restricts it to only the permissions you explicitly grant (microphone access and Accessibility access for text injection).

10. Your Rights and Choices

Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct, export, or delete on our side. However:

  • –You can revoke microphone access at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
  • –You can clear your local dictation history in the Lokál Settings → History tab.
  • –You can delete all app data by uninstalling Lokál.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change our data practices in a material way, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Because the App currently collects no data, any future change would represent an increase in data collection and will be prominently disclosed.
